“Having a budget makes me feel like I have to stick to it and make it work, or else I’m a failure.”

Sound familiar?

It’s valid. So many of us have this belief. It doesn’t matter if it came from your parents (or grandparents!) or from a “Money Management” book you read or podcast you heard. I don’t remember where or when I started to believe it, but I remember living the first half of my life thinking that’s what a budget was - a law that I could not break. It doesn’t matter who implanted this belief in your mind, what matters is this:

It isn’t true.

🤯

There’s another way - a way of telling your money what you want it to do for you, and then changing your mind if you want to!

YNAB’s only “rule” is to give every dollar a job. It doesn’t matter WHAT job - as long as that job is what you chose, not some money guru who hasn’t lived your life or seen your bank balances. And on top of that, YNAB even has questions for you to answer that can guide you towards finding the right jobs. One of those questions is: “What changes do I need to make, if any?”

Look at that! Permission, right there, to change your budget whenever you need to! And the best part? It means you’ve succeeded, not failed!

For the rest of today, imagine what it would be like to think - every time you spend your money - “Yes, this is exactly what I want to spend this on, and it feels just fine…maybe even good.”

If you want help getting that feeling, I can help you. Schedule your free intro call with me here:
